Fourth of July // 2016

Who did you spend your 4th with? My sister flew in and we spent the weekend at our lake cabin. I'm from Minnesota, so that's probably the most basic (but awesome) thing to do around here. Shoutout to the city of Nevis who, I swear, spends half of their annual budget on fireworks. Their show never disappoints. Finales for days...

I joined in on a boat parade early in the morning in the town where my cabin is. At the end of the parade, an ADORABLE couple served doughnuts, coffee, and lemonade at their beach for whoever wanted them. #relationshipgoals. I hope I'm those people one day.

For years, my dear sweet mother dressed us up in the classic Old Navy 4th of July shirts. They were fantastic, right?  But now that I get to dress myself...

I went for something a little different/less obvious this year. (No flag print in sight.) Blue and white striped shirt on sale for under $10, my fave blue jean high-waisted shorts, and white sneakers. The shirt was a little too masculine for what I was looking for, but that was easily fixed by unbuttoning the bottom two buttons and tying it up into a crop top. Voila! Also, when in need of a floral crown, tinsel will do. This look (minus the tinsel, obvs) is great for all summer, not just the 4th. Think zoo date or BBQ. Outfit details below!

Top: H&M  //  Shorts: Forever 21 (similar here)  //  Belt: H&M  //  Shoes: Target

Sister's Outfit: Top: Target  (In store only, similar here)  //  Shorts: JCrew (old, similar here)

I hope you all had a BLAST this Fourth. (Couldn't help myself.)
